About wellness routines
The wellness practices that last are the ones with a low barrier to starting. A plunge that needs forty minutes of preparation gets done twice; one that needs ninety seconds and is already at temperature gets done all winter. That is less about discipline than design — where the tub lives, whether the water is ready, and whether the routine survives a busy week. Anything that only works on a good week is not a routine yet, and the honest test of a new practice is whether it is still happening in six weeks.
Wellness: common questions
How often should I be doing this?
Consistently and modestly beats occasionally and heroically. A few short cold exposures a week, kept up for months, does more than a punishing session you avoid repeating — total exposure over time is what matters.
Is any of this actually proven?
Some of it has reasonable evidence for modest effects, some has very little, and almost all of it varies by person. Treat a new practice as a six-week experiment and judge it on your own sleep, training and mood.
