About setup, inflation and anchoring

Anchoring is what separates equipment that stays where you put it from equipment that ends up across the yard or downwind on the lake. Wind gets under a large flat inflatable with surprising force, which is why every anchor point on a slide exists and why using three of five is not a shortcut. On water, tethers have to allow for current and for the load of someone climbing on from one side. Check the lines and fixing points at the start of each season rather than discovering a perished one with people already in the water.

Water slide setup: common questions

What pump do I need?

A high-pressure electric pump for drop-stitch gear that needs real rigidity, a volume blower for large slides that need air moved fast, and a hand or dual-action pump as the backup that works where there is no power.

How do I know when it is inflated correctly?

Go by firmness and the manufacturer pressure rather than appearance: correctly inflated gear barely gives under a firm push. Re-check once the sun has been on it, and bleed a little off rather than leaving it over-pressure through the afternoon.
